Firebug is an absolute must. It’s so fantastic, that I would probably develop in IE if IE had it and FF didn’t.

Sweet list fran, a personal favorite of mine though, is the Firefox 2 web developer toolbar. As a designer I couldn’t live without it.

oops, i guess i shouldn’t have used the html comment tags in previous message. anyway here’s the continuation of my message:

… the [if IE 7] and [if IE 6] tags, the former one is used. So I always have to temporarily change the stylesheet under [if IE 7] to the stylesheet for IE6 whenever I’m using the standalone IE6 to test layout. Do you know any workaround for the issue?

I wonder is it how it is or is it just me, I have the standalone IE6 from evolt.org and I noticed it recognizes itself as IE7 (which is what’s installed on my system). The ‘about’ dialog box shows IE7, and also when a web page uses different stylesheets for IE with

I’ll add it to the list - I have used it in the past and found it covered a lot of the same ground as the Web-developer toolbar - but since that’s pretty much ceased development, Firebug is a great alternative (and has I’m sure surpassed WDT’s capabilities). I only wish that Firebug had the ability to save a local copy of modified CSS (that feature might already have been implemented by this point, I’ll check it out). Cheers for the heads up : )
